Meet the Heart of Trophy Trackers Africa — The People Behind the Legacy
Behind every extraordinary safari is an extraordinary team. At Trophy Trackers Africa, our strength is not only in the wild landscapes we explore or the world-class trophies our clients pursue — it is in the people who dedicate their lives to guiding, protecting, and celebrating Africa’s wilderness.
Each member of our team brings a depth of experience, passion, and integrity that transforms a safari from a mere hunt into an unforgettable journey.
Henri van Aswegen — Founder, Outfitter & Professional Hunter

A Life Built in the Wild. A Legacy Carved in Africa.
Raised among the raw landscapes of Botswana and Zimbabwe, Henri’s upbringing shaped him into a hunter, naturalist, and conservationist long before he held the title. In 1987, he officially entered the professional hunting world — a journey that now spans nearly four decades across South Africa, Botswana, Zimbabwe, and Zambia.
By 1993, Henri had become widely respected for his unmatched field knowledge, tactical precision, and unwavering ethical standards. His leadership and integrity have shaped Trophy Trackers Africa into a company known for professionalism, transparency, and deep bush expertise.
A Conservation Innovator
Henri’s influence reaches far beyond the hunting world. In the early 1990s he collaborated with veterinarian Dr. H. Ebedes to revolutionize elephant management practices. Their advocacy led to the adoption of electric fencing as the new standard for elephant relocation — replacing outdated, dangerous railway cable systems. This breakthrough improved safety for wildlife and handlers alike and remains widely used today.
Reviving Zambia’s Wildlife
In 1994, Henri partnered with C.J. McElroy, founder of Safari Club International, to restore depleted hunting areas in Zambia. Through ethical quota management and habitat stewardship, wildlife populations rebounded dramatically — a revival that drew international recognition within only two years.
A Leader Respected Worldwide
Henri’s generosity and professionalism have earned him respect across the global hunting community. His donation of two 30-day Big Five hunts to SCI showcased his commitment to conservation and the industry’s long-term sustainability.
One of the most powerful endorsements came from William R. Quimby, Director of Publications at SCI:
“I have hunted big game on five continents with many guides and professional hunters, and Henri ranks among the top two or three. I can think of no other PH I would have wanted beside me as we stepped into a lion blind before dawn — with lions roaring just 35 meters away.”
This statement captures who Henri is: courageous, deeply skilled, and extraordinarily calm under pressure — the mark of a true African professional hunter.
