Imagine waking to the soft golden glow of dawn spilling over the African bush, the silhouettes of acacia trees etched against a fiery sky. The gentle rustle of leaves and the calls of waking birds fill the air, while antelope and giraffe move gracefully across the plains. This is the world that greets guests at Waidmannsheil Safaris, a place where every sense is awakened, and every moment feels alive.
From the first moment they step into the camp, visitors are greeted with a warm, personal welcome that immediately sets the tone for their safari experience. The camp itself blends traditional African charm with comfort: thatched roofs, cozy rooms, and evenings around a crackling campfire. Home-style meals and fireside drinks create an intimate atmosphere, where storytelling and shared laughter make guests feel like part of a family rather than mere visitors. It is in these moments, under the expansive African sky, that the true spirit of Waidmannsheil emerges.

“A bird’s-eye view of Waidmannsheil Safaris, where the African bush meets comfort, adventure and unforgettable memories”
At the heart of the safari lies a professional hunting experience, led by the highly experienced professional hunter, Gerhard Vermaak. Every hunt is conducted ethically and respectfully, embracing the principles of a fair chase. Guests are guided through early-morning drives, quiet glassing sessions, and meticulous stalks across the bush, learning to read tracks, assess wind direction, understand animal behaviour, and execute precise shot placement. The thrill of the hunt, spotting game at first light or the adrenaline of a successful shot, is balanced by the satisfaction of doing it with skill, patience, and integrity.
Waidmannsheil’s hunting grounds are as diverse as they are breathtaking. Rolling bushveld, open plains, and rugged mountains create the stage for an impressive array of African wildlife. Buffalo, kudu, sable, wildebeest, zebra, impala, warthog, giraffe, and countless other species roam freely, offering guests close encounters and that unmistakable sense of being immersed in the wild. Every sighting, every sound, from the whisper of the wind through the trees to the haunting call of a distant predator, adds to the unique and immersive African experience.

“As the African sun dips below the horizon, the bush comes alive with colour, sound, and the promise of tomorrow’s adventure at Waidmannsheil Safaris.”
Hospitality at Waidmannsheil is personal, meticulous, and tailored to each guest. Whether a first-time hunter, a bowhunter, or an experienced rifle hunter, every aspect of the safari is customised. From meals and accommodation to field preparation and trophy care, the team ensures safety, comfort, and professionalism at every stage. The emphasis on personal service leaves lasting impressions; many guests return year after year, not only for the hunt, but for the relationships formed and the sense of belonging they experience.

Guests often describe the safari as life-changing, a time of reflection and growth, during which they gain a deeper appreciation for the bush, the wildlife, and the skill of the hunter guiding them on this adventure.

More about the Waidmannsheil team
Gerhard Vermaak
The Waimannsheil Team South Africa was started by our professional hunter/outfitter Gerhard Vermaak after he decided he wants to give everyone in the world the opportunity to experience the South African bush. Gerhard then decided on the name Waidmannsheil which is a German term meaning good hunting and that is exactly what you will get if you book your hunting safari with us.
So, a little more about Gerhard he started working as a PH in 2014 while he was studying game ranch management. After his studies, he started managing wildlife properties in the Thabazimbi in Limpopo. Then moved to the rust de winter area in Gauteng to managed wildlife properties there while he was conducting hunts on the properties. After his 3 years as a professional hunter, he registered to become a hunting outfitter.
